TWO MEN SHOT. 1
RAROTONGA NATIVE ARRESTED.
[Pes Press Association.] TE KUITI, July 29. Two men working at Rolleston's I&eep farm, 17 miles from Mangapehi, were yesterday shot_ by a Rarotongan named Tui Kaimulru. Kenneth Livingstone, a shepherd, was killed, and Charles Frederick M'Farlane, the manager, was wounded. - The men were working at a fence prif? observed that their whare was on fire. Investigation showed that the vrharo had been broken into and deliberately fired. They looked for the culprit in the bush, and then the native, it. is alleged, shot Livingstone, who fell.. A second shot hit M'Farlane, who ran for help. Three other shots hit M'Farlane before the native gave up ihe chase. Upon help being obtained it was jTound that Livingstone's body had been llragged into the bush and that an- '■ other shot had been put through the jhead. \ The native, who lives seven miles from Rolleston's, rode thither and shot ms own horse, and caught another and ,ajrode it away. M'Farlane, ,who was badly hurt, was f *fcaken' to the Hamilton Hospital. ' All the police in the district went search or the suspect last night, and ie was arrested early this morning, S§nd will arrive at Te Kuiti to-night. \ ============
