HOCKEY.

TO-DAY'S RESULTS. After a week's spell the Canterbury Hockey Association's competitions were continued to-day in fine weather. The majority of the grounds were very wet j from the recent rains. In the Senior Competition tho old rivals Sydenham and Addiiigton met at Lancaster Park, where Addingtou won by fcwo goals to nil. At Sydenham Park Selwyn defeated Cranforl by two to nil. . . SYDENHAM v. ADDINGTON. The A'ddington team was changed round somewhat, Bellamy playing bully and Chappell left threo-q'aarter. Owing to Throp being still incapacitated Snell played bully for Sydenham, with Skelton centre half. > From the commencement Addingtou attacked, but Bowden relieved with a long hit which, Snell carried on. Pattrick had a feeblo shot, which was stopped by the Addington custodian, ['p and down play followed and Gracie, with a long drive, started an attack but Hinckman relieved. Addington again attacked and 1 Bufton had a shot which missed. The heavy nature of the ground did not tend to good play Smith, after a good run down tho field, had a shot, but Luxtim saved and half-time sounded with no score on either side. Pattrick took the ball right down tlia field and passed across to Butterfield, whose shot went over the bar. From a penalty corner Pattrick put in a hot one, but Bellamy relieved. Chappell now took his place in the front lino and the Addington forwards continued to press hardTheir efforts were at last rewarded, for, after several fruitless shots Bufton found tho net. Jlatch were the referees. SELWYN v. CRANFORD. Selwyn were penalised twice m the opening stages for sticks, and Cranfoul had' a good chance of scoring, but Suctair voWd. SECOND GRADE. Belfast beat Technical College at Elisor's Road by two goals to ml . Ihe scorers werePoulson (pi). The roferee was Mr E. N. Smith. East Belt beat Wools-ton at Woolston Park bv four goals to nil. The scorers v.-ere—-Anderson (2), W. \\ Pearce. The referee was Mr H. Rogers. Sydenham beat Christchurch at Sydenham Park by five S to nil. The scorers were—Pudrom C2), Woodford Laurence fnd Smith. The referee was Mr T. Turnpenny. Selwyn had a bye. THIRD GRADE. Selwvn beat Oxford Terrace by two goals to one., at Addington Reserve. For Selwvn the scorers were —A. i>ell and W. Bell, and for Oxford x Terrace C. Freeman. The referee was Mr J. l'orroster Rice art on Guild beat Christchurch at the Polo Ground by three goals to nil. The scorers were-—M'Culloch, Cnnstie and Hurrell. The referee was Mr A. Dickenson. Technical College defeated Addington by default. FOURTH GRADE. Riccarton Guild and East- Belt drew at the Polo Ground, scoring four goals each. The scorers for Riccaiton ueie King (2) and Taylor (2), and for East Beit Jennings (2) and Armitage ("-)• The referee was Mr A. Cotton. Sydenham beat Selwvn at Addington Reserve by two goals to nil, scored by Pope. The referee was Mr Davey. Cranford and Technical College drew at Ensor's Road, scoring two goals each. For Cranford the scorer was T. Harrison (2), and for Technical College the scorers were Steer and Smart. Tiie referee was Mr F. Galium. Christchurch had a "bye. FIFTH GRADE. Christchurch beat Oxford Terrace at the Polo Ground by fourteen goals to nil. The scorers were HilJ (-1), Bardie (2), Chamberlain (4). Thomas (2) and MTntyro (2). The referee was Mr J. Scott. Selwvn beat Sydenham at Addington Reserve by five goals to nil. The scorers were N. Dorreen (2) and A. Mahoney (3). The referee was Mr A. E. Turnpenny. Technical College heat Wharcnui at Ensor's Road by six goal? to one. The scorers for the winners were Smart (4), Hitchens and Green, and for Wharonui M : tcliell. _ The referee was Mr F. Galium.
