LYTTELTON
(Before Mr W. Hadcliffe, J.P., and Mr F. W. Anderson, J.P.) THEFT OF HAMS. William Buist and Charles Austin Scotland were charged with having, v stolen two hams on July 28 from the s.s. Tainui, the property of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company. Both accused pleaded guiity. The evidence showed that the accused were members of the crew of the Tainui, and one of them had access to the ship's stores. Last night one of the men carae off the ship with the hams in his possession. A fine of £o each was inflicted Harry "Walton Williams, on a charge of procuring for the two other defendants to obtain the goods, was fined £5.
