MORE DRASTIC ENFORCEMENT OF BY-LAW. . Something in the nature of a police raid was' made on the ilock of home-ward-bound cyclists who passed through Cathedral Square shortly after five o'clock last evening. The names of lightless cvelists were taken, and it is to bo supposed that prosecutions tor broaches of the City Council by-laws will follow. Tito by-law in question is to bo found in section 245 of the city by-laws, ami decrees that a light must be carried by the. cyclist from half an hour after sunset. in the present' midwinter period the sun sets about half-past four, but the practice heretofore hat been apparently not to apply the. bylaw to persons leaving business at 5 p.m. In view of the more drastic enforcement of the by-law which is now -being insisted upon, those whose business keeps them in town till 5 p.m. would be. well advised to emulate the wise virgins and keep their lamps trimmed and bui'iiing on the homeward
