Jiy October 'JO ■obri«tcliureh. will be expected, to find 200 infantry for the next reinforcements- That should not. be a large order to filll, and no doubt when the time comeiv it will be found that more than sufficient men have enlisted.' That, at all events, the opinion of those who are taking an active part in the work of recruiting. The uncertainty that prevailed' regarding the date when the men would be required' to go into camp had caused for the time being a marked. ,slackening in the applications for enlistment, but during the last few days the o.!>.('. bureau officers have been kept fairly busy in enrolling recruits, and it may now be fairly assumed that by the date fixed the quota required will be obtained. It would' be just as well that those who are eligible should make early application for enlistment and get through their medical examination, so that if passed they will be able to settle up their personal affairs before going into camp.' This is 110 time, lor dallying. The men arc urgently required in the interests of the Empire, and duty demands that every man fit and able and without any reasonable excuse for hanging back sfiould at once respond' to the country's call for help.

The members of the 0.3X0. 4re doing good work in the way of recruiting, but a. lot still remains to be done, and, jra President George Harper has pointed out, some new nieaiin must bo adopted tor increasing the enrolments. One would naturally have thought that there would have: been no need for such a course, but the fact remains that men are not coining forward in such numbers as might reasonably he expected, and therefore some more vigorous action, will have to bo taken in ord,er to make our young men realise tho duty that if? expected of them. However, now that the date has been finally fixed for the men to go into camp, it may safely be predicted that when the day arrives it will be found that more than the requisite number of men will bo available for duty.

The first meeting of the newly elected general committee of the O.ju.C. was held in the club rooms on Friday evening last, when there were present--Mr George Harper (in the chair), the Mayor and Messrs G. Y.l>. Jt hoped, that members of other units will be present at the servico. %*

The club rooms of the C.D.C. continue to be well patronised by the returned soldiers, and full advantago is taken of the accommodation provided, it has been suggested that a visitors' book should be obtained' so that an autograph record of our returned, soldiers could be obtained. In years to come this would be valuable from a historical point of view.
