A correspondent in Petrograd says: " Tho Allies' offensive in the west instantaneously brought a certain relief to the extreme tension on our front between Dvinsk and* O-shmian, by tne withdrawal of tho whole German Guards corps from Vilna. Critics expect that this transfer will be followed up by others." The <f Novse Vreniska" estimates that tho German losses in their recent defeat on tho eastern front totalled 75,000. In order to fill up the gap on their western lines, the enemy must recall an entire army from the east, a difficult task in view of the heavy drain on German reserves caused by the precarious situation of their armies-
