"HER STALWARTS GONE."
HOW GERMANY STANDS. " Times " and Sydney " Sun " Services. (Received October 1, 9 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. " The Times's" correspondent iu France, describing the condition of prisoners, says: "One curious point is that the majority are of the Slav type, clearly drawn from the fringes of Germany's ill-assorted Empire, and uninspired by virulent antipathy to their opponents. Germany, in order to succeed, must not only keep her armies up to full strength, but must also preserve at white heat her whole fanatical, unyielding spirit. If Germany still has numbers of men, it is doubtful if they are of the right kind. Her stalwarts of the first line have mostly found graves in Flanders, in the Champagne and. in far-away Poland'."
