DROUGHT IN TONGA. (Per. Press Association.] AUCKLAND. September 30. The " Star's " Tonga correspondent writes ou September 17: "W« are going through ono of the longest droughts in tho history of Tonga. There have been fifty deaths in Vavau through starvation and bad water. Tho King held a big meeting, at which every taxpayer was present. AH were urged to assist with food, The Govern mei it intendis supplying food, but there is so much delay with the relief that in many cases it may be too late. The Premier intends to visit the worst place and alleviate distress's. Tonga, was never in isuch a bad state as at present."
