CIVIL CASES. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) CLAIM FOR WAGES. In tbo case J. Dransfield (Mr Hunt) r. A. G. Boardinan (Mr Malley), claim for £23 10s for wages, the plaintiff said he worked for the defendant from November last to July 3, a period of thirfcy-threo weeks. There was no definite arrangement about wages, but it was thoroughly understood that plaintiff was to be paid. He claimed at the rate of £1 per week, less allowance made by defendant in cash and in In'"'' 1 The defence was that the plaintiff, who was in receipt of the full Old Age Pension, had been employed merely on the* understanding that he should get his board and lodging. Tbo plaintiff was non-suited, with costs.
CLAIM FOR MOTOR-CAR REPAIRS. In the case. Hawkes, Ltd. (Mr Alpers) v. W. Herald, claim for £2 4s 6d for inspection and repair of motorcar, evidence was given concerning, the work done, substantiated by timesheets. The defendant had paid £1 into Court, but disputed liability for the balance on tho ground that he did nob authorise the work, and that tho work was not dono. After hearing the defendant's statement, the Magistrate gave judgment for the, plaintiff company for the amount claimed and costs.
