The All-America athletic team has left for Australia and New Zealand. Templeton, the hurdler, was smuggled aboard, as Stanford University students, to whose team ho belongs, had arranged to kidnap him to prevent him leaving. G Talbot to-day received a rablo message from San Francisco, stating that the ' American athletic team left for New Zealand in the steamer Tahiti, which is due at "Wellington" on December 4. Mr Peixotto is manager of the team. A meeting of the committee of the combined clubs and delegates to the Canterbury Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association, in connection with the visit of the Ameican athletic team; to Christchurch on December 13, was held at the Pioneer Club's rooms yesterday afternoon; present- -Messrs H. R Sellars (in the chair). A. Anderson, D. Robertson, S. Mansell, F. H. Salter, C H. Flanagan. P. Menzies, E. M. Strachcy and S. Cox. It was decided to write to Messrs Kedclell (Australasian champion hurdler) and M. Holm (world's champion ■thaminer-throwor- and shot-putter)y-,.ask-'-I ing them if they would be present at ! the athletic meeting. It was also decided to write,to the Wellington Centro of the Amateur Athletic Association, inviting it to send a, team. Two additional events were added to the programme, a half-mile firm's relay race for the Ballantyne Cup and a boys' half-milo walk. It was stated that the prize-money for the meeting amounted to £57. It was stated that the American team consisted of He.skamp, a hurdler and jumper who has beaten all opponents in open competitions; Caughey, shot and hammer-thrower, a college student showing champion form; Rosenberger, a sprinter who had done one hundred yards in 9 4-ssec, and Power, who had done the mile in 4min 18seo.
