MILL IN FLAMES.
OUT OF WORK MEN HELP. AND SAVE TIMBER.[Per Press Association.] TAURANG A, November 13: Early yesterday morning a fire occurred* at the Omanawa. Falls mill., belonging to Gaggans, Tauranga, Ltd. The small mill and planing plant were completely destroyed; and' damage to the extent or about £3(500 was done. Over one hundred men are employed at the mill, which, owing to the strike, had been closed down the previous day. The men had not left, and, owing to their efforts and a good supply of water, about a million feet of timber in stack was saved. * Mr Gamman warmly praises the men for their willing assistance in fighting the outbreak. < The mill plant was one of the most up to date in the dominion. The cause was probably a spark getting into the shavings, or from one of the locomotives. The insurances amounted to £"1500 in the. Norwich Office.
