J. D. WILLIAMS COMPANY

MANAGER AND DIRECTORS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 1, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, February 1. The directors of the J. D. Williams Amusement Company have carried a motion dispensing, with the services of Mr J, D. Williams as managing director from to-day. His duties will be assumed by Mr W. B. Miller. In his published statement Mr WilliamiS contends that the directors have no power to dispense with his services; that can only be done by a two-thirds vote of a general meeting of shareholders. In July last one director suggested to him that a. Royal Commission should inquire into the affairs of the company. Mr Williams agreed that this was the best course. Another director, however, said it was foolish. A few days later the directors declared a dividend of Is 6d per share, despite his opposition. Mr Williams says the dividend helped to cause the present Stock Exchange panic, because it swallowed up the company's ready cash.
