NEW ZEALAND METROPOLITAN TROTTING CLUB. A start will be made on Monday with the August meeting 1 of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club. The weather, which has been very unfavourable for training for some time past, appears to have cleared now, and the track at Addington is rapidly drying, so that it should provide excellent going next week. Record acceptances have been received for the first day's racing, and, as quality is well represented, there is a prospect of some 2rts"t-clasß sport, despite the fact that manr of the horses will not b» so OTwa-rd in condition as could he wished. The first race will start at noon each day, the following is the programme for Monday's racing: INTRODUCTORY HANDICAP (in saddle), of 135 sovs; second horse 19 sovs, and third horse 13 sovs from the stake. The work over fences and hurdles was all interesting, and it was watched 1 by a large corwd of spectators. Daylight Bill (Anderson), Aenra and Eon Kubyl set out ever five flights. Daylight Bill lost his rider at the first fence, and his rider was severely bruised and shaken. Hegsrty subsequently schooled the horse over two hurdles. The other two finished the task fairly satisfactorily. Glenmore (Adams) and Makiri were to have been companions over the fences, but the first jump brought Makiri down, and Glenmore went twice roiind alone. Makiri subsequently went round safely. Bourrapque (L. Coleman) Flingot (N. Kelly) and Waikaraka (Waddell) were schooled over five flights. Bourrasqiu* fell at the last jump, his rider escaping with a shaking. Waikaraka showed to most advantage. Hawick, with a companion, gave a good display over the fences. Koran (L. Carroll) and The Native (Young) jumped five flights. Both performed well, maintaining a solid pace, and they finished abreast. Silver Blaze (C. Price) and Lugeon (R. Gray) went twice round oveT the big fences. The former was. if anything, the better of the pair, but both jumped nicely. Coronetted (Futcher) and Leolanter (Murtacjh) were associated! over five flights, finishing together, arid giving a very fair display. T,p.rry Lynx and Mux gave a satisfactory exhibition in a round arid a half of the big country. Hakari and Miss Gibbs jumped eight hurdles in fair style. White Cockade was better than Heirloom in a display over five flights. Icel, Suffragette and another set out over fire flights, hut Suffragette was pulled up after the first fence through the saddle slipping. The others jumped fairly well, and Suffragette later on completed the task set her. Paisano (Young) finished several ftmgths ahead of Sandy Paul (Deery), with Darby Paul (T. Jones) further back, after jumping five fences. All jumped l well, but Paisano covered more ground than the others, and his showing was a good one. The Gunner

went a round and a half over the fences with his customary facility. Paritutu (Julian) and Te Tua (Hesleton) went a round of the fences, starting over the post and rail and finishing together over the double. They kept up a sound pace, and although Paritutu'a jumping was not perfect, he covered a lot of ground, and gave •a really good display. Continuance (Young) jumped five fences, taking the hurdle instead; of the post and rail. He got in too closo, and hit the second of the double heavily, but otherwise performed well. Danzel (D. Watt) and Murihiko (Gray) were schooled over the fences. Among those- doing strong to fpst work were Captain Jingle, The Hover, Tai Cakobau, Ability, S* Amelia, Early Morn, Con the Shaughraun, Brown Trout, Sen, King, St Kevin, Mulverin, The Spaniard, Gunflash, Cardiff and My Lawyer.' John was out, but only trotted. Antarctic w&b not worked. Mira., who was .not worked this morning, has been showing slight symptoms of shoulder lameness, and is giving his trainer some anxiety.
