MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

A mock banquet in connection with The Peaks Literary and Debating Society was held in the schoolroom last week. Over twenty members took part. Tho toasts wcro . interspersed with songs, recitations and readings. The weekly meeting of the Belfast Debating Society was held on Monday evening in tho Social Hall of tho Presbyterian Church. Thero were about fifty persons present. A mock Parliament was held. Mr It. Cleland was Prime Minister of tho Reform Party, and was supported by several members. Tho Opposition was led by Mr G. Brown. After the Primo Minister had given his policy speech a no-confidence motion wao moved, and on a division being taken the motion was carried Tho duties of the Speaker wero discharged in an ablo manner by Mr I\i arkbam.
