The Frozen Moat Trade Association's Smithfield Market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than 100 carcases of mutton ot lamb or 2a carcases of beef of fair average quality. These quotations are not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of the shipments now on the markot: — April 15. April 20.

"Wool.—A good tone is evident at the sales. Continental and Yorkshire buyers onerating keenly. Prices arc tinchanged. Following flro the prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named Glenside, top ll'\d, average Aid ; Christchurch. top lid, average 9id; Otaraia, top lOjd, average oj : d ; Oringi, top 9sd, average 9sd. The total number of bales catalogued was 111.028. and 100,217 were sold. Wheat. Three Australian cargoes sold at 40s 6d, 40s and 39s 9d respectively. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 4,260,000 quarters, and for the Continent 2,510,000 quarters. The Atlantic shipments are 191,000 quarters and the Pacific 150,000 quarters. The total shipments to Europe amount -to 1.625.000 quarters, .including—Argentine 759,C00, 'Russia 400,000, Danubian 180.000, India 164,000, and Australasia 162.000. Rabbits.—The market is quiet.

The quotations, unless otherwise specified, are the average market prices on the spot Frozen Meat.—Mutton —The is quiet, but firm. Heavy-weights are' difficult to sell at the average price of 3Jd. A good demand continues for lighter carcases, which are selling at an average price of 4d: ewes 3id. Lamb—The market is steady, with a very good demand, prices being firm at last rates. Canterbury, 5Jd; other than Canterbury, old. Beef—The market remains firm, with small supply, and the good demand continues. Isew Zealand hindquarters, 4Jd; New Zealand forequarters, 3}d. Butter.—Tho market is very depressed, buyers holding back, expecting •prices to go lower. A large decrease m consumption is reported on account of the high prices owing to the labour troubles recently. The average price for the week is:—Choicest New Zealand butter. 114s; Australian, 112s; Argentine, 110s.; Danish, 1265; Siberian, 112s.

Cheese.- —The market is quiet, and prices are slightly weaker. The stock is moderate. The a rem ere price for the week is:—Finest iNew Zealand cheese, 725.

Hemp.—The market is steady, hut there is no demand. New Zealand good fair grade. £2l IDs to £2l los; New Zealand fair grade, £2O. For Manila the market is firmer. Fair current Manila on spot, £2l IDs: forward shipment. £2l 15s. The output from Manila for the week was 24,(XK 1 bales.

"Wool. - The market is quiet and steady. Current quotations for Bradford tops are Thirty-sixes, low crossbreds, Is Id; 'forties, low cross-breds. Is ljd; forty-fours, medium cross-breds, Is 2d; fifties, half-breds, Is aid ; fiftysixes, quarter-breds, Is s|d; sixties, m'erinoes, 2s Oid.

Hops.—The market is firm, -with an improved demand but no change in prices. English, £l3; Californian, £l2.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., has received a cablegram from London giving the following market information Frozen meat—There is a good demand for lamb. The market is unchanged for mutton, but is firmer for beef (sides).
