* BOMBARDMENT OF DARDANELLES FORTS. ITALIAN SmFTAKES FIRE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 20, 10 a.m.) LONDON, April 19. Reports of the bombardment of the forts at the entrance to the Dardanelles show that four battleships, accompanied by twenty-two torpedo boats, opened fire on the outer forts at 8000 yards. The forts replied. Merchantmen were allowed to proceed northward. The Turkish mine-laying ships are completing the closing of the Straits. British subjects hare embarked on steamers. The Italian fleet fired 180 projectiles, but did not seriously damage either the barracks or the forts. One of the Italian vessels took fire and the fleet put to sea. The Governors of Mitylene and Rhodes' report that two Italian ships shelled the barracks above Vathe for three and a half hours. The Turkish Parliament has opened. The Sultan, referring to tho war, declared that peaco was only possible on the condition of the effective maintenance of Turkey's sovereign rights. He applauded the bravery of the Turks and Arabs.
