ASSOCIATION NOTES.

(By GOAL-KEEPER.) To-day will see the opening matches of the League championship. Burnham will have formidable opponents in tho Nomads' (Blue) team, which will consist of all the old players, with the exception of Wood*, who, I hear, enters tho blissful state of matrimony to-day. We all convey to him the best of good wishes. Nelson, Marshall, Pitt, Freak and Lulhain are the now iplayers introduced into the team, and it is the intention of the Nomads' committee to make as few alterations as possible in their two teams. It is expected that Burnham' will bring a strong eleven to town, as they hope to retain their posiS"on at the top of tho table. With ave Fullerton in tho half-back line they should bo ablo to check the Nomads' forwards. Tho Sydenham - Y.M.C.A. match should bo very interesting', as tha Y.M.C.A. are out to prevent a repetition of the corresponding match last year, when they wero the losers by rather a heavy score. They will have tho services of tho Rev A. Scriven, of New Brighton, who played in the Auckland eleven when Canterbury were successful in bringing the Brown Shield south. A word of praise is duo to Mr M'Nish, who is working hard amongst tho Juniors.

Sunnyside engage Nomads (Wlrito) at homo, and the result will be looked forward to with interest. Sunnyside have lost tho services of D. Fullerton and Macdonald. The Whites are all new players to the Nomads Club, and include Webster and Noakes, of tho defunct Christchurch Club.

Lyttelton have a bye this week. They have lost the services of Carey, which will be a serious loss to them. This club has changed its colours to black jerseys and white knickers.

The C.I'.A. wish to Impress upon all players that it is essential for them to kick-off at the time appointed, and the referees should bear this in mind, as they can greatly assist in the matter.

, Permission has been given to cut the grass in the South Park. Mr Steyning is looking into the matter of dressing accommodation there, and Mr F/avies at St Albans Park.

Another set of goal nets has arrived, so that all town grounds will be netted, which will greatly assist the referees m their duty. There will .bo a meeting of the Referees' Association shortly, ayd any intending members should attend. I hope to give the date next week.

Regarding the Junior Competition, entries will close on Friday next, April Jk>. the X.M.O.A. are entering a team, as well as Sydenham, Burnham, Lyttelton and the Gordon Hall boys, and it is to be hoped that the Nomads will endeavour to enter a team, eo as to make this division stisonger. Next Saturday Nomads (Blue) will journey to Burnham, Sydenham will visit Sunnyside, and the Port Club will receive the Y.M.O.A. team. Nomads (White) have_ the bye. The following are tho members who were elected to act on the O.F.A. Committee at the re-election last Friday :• —■ Messrs Steyning, Russell, Bryoe, Ramsey, Trendle, Sievwright and Lynskey. The delegates decidedTthat they would not alter the rulo so as to add another two. It is to be hoped that there will always be a quorum.
