SYDNEY, March 22
The Executive of the I.a hour Council recommended to a meeting of the Council that tho embargo on iron produced by non-unionists at. Lithgow should bo lifted. The Executive reported that the terms of settlement rejected by tho men were tho best obtainable and .should have been accepted. After discussion tho matter wim adjourned {or a week. LORD DENMAN ON STRIKES.
The Governor-General, speaking at tho Newcastle Chamber of Commerce banquet, denounced strikes. Ho admitted that, lately tho workers' wages and conditions had needed revision and readjustment, but a strike ran the risk of diverting trade which sometimes it was impossible to restore.
