The English cricketers aro proving themselves tigers for work, and are practising strenuously to get into form for tho opening match on Friday. Beanie, Foster, Barnes and Vine are getting well into their stride with the ball, and the first-named gives a fine exhibition of breaking both ways, getting an off break with a leg-break action. Hobbs, Mead and Kinnear make things lively with the bat. CHRIST'S COLLEGE v. BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL. The annual match between Christ's College and Boys' High School was commenced at Hagley fark this afternoon. College won the toss and, batting first, scored 111 (Bowden 28, Stitt L'o, Loudon 17 : Meredith-Kayo 17, Thomas II). Hickmott took seven wickets for School.
