OBITUARY.
—-—-« MRS J. S. ASHBY. A large number of friends, including members of the Leithfield and AmberIcy Oddfellows' Lodges, .attended tho funeral of the late iSlrs J. S._ Ash by at the Terrace Cemetery, Leithfield, on Sunday. Mrs J. Ashby was the eldest daughter of the late Mr Samuel Wo.rnal.lj who came to Canterbury in tho Sir George, Seymour, one of the first four ships. Siie was the second ffirl baby added to the community of pilgrims," her birth occuriiig on April 1, 1851. She was married to Mr J. S. Ashby in 1871 and spent the remainder of her life in the Leithfield district, where she was held in high esteem. In all matters connected with the church and school, and also in sickness, she was to lie found assisting, and her death was very deeply regretted. Her husband survives her and she leaves four sons and three daughters.
