PERSONAL.
Mr E. J. Rigliton returned from Wellington this morning. Dr Truby King, Colonel Hayhurst and the Rev Father Peoples arrived, from Wellington by the Maori this morning. Mr Chow Si Lanchu, Chinese consul in Now Zealand, who is spending a few days in Christchurch, called on tho Mayor this morning.
Messrs T. W. Brown, W, H. Tombs, W. J. Courtier. E. J. Righton, J. Fuller, W. St G. Douglas, C. T. Midlane and L. J. Bagliall arrived from Wollington this morning.
Private advice has been received in Dunedin of tho death, of Sir Matthew Harris, formerly Lord Mayor of Sydney. Mrs Davies, wife of tho minister of Knox Church, Dunedin, was u daughter of the late Sir Matthew Harris.
