POULTRY CONFERENCE.
The annual of tlie Now Zealand Poultry Association was oik 1 tied at the Young Men's Christian AsBuildings to-day, when there was a large attendance, Mr M. P. Harvey, of Dunedin, presiding. At 10.30 a.m. the delegates were received by Councillors Cooper, Holland and Gapes, Mr T. H. Davey, M.P., Dr C. J. Russell and other citizens. In a short address Councillor Cooper said that New Zealand had great potentialities hi regard to poultry breeding, and those who worked for tho improvement of the birds were benefactors to the rest of the people. Ho had much pleasure, on behalf of Iho Mayor, in welcoming tho visiting delegates. Councillors Holland and Gapes and Dr Russell also welcomed tho delegates in brief speechos. After tho reception the Conference proceeded to discuss the annual report and balance sheet. Reports from the Organising Committee stated that Mr Rutherford had been engaged as organiser and his services had proved of much value. Several "egg circles" had been formed, mostly in the North Island. The secretary reported that tho Association had 170 active members and tho balance sheet showed receipts £BS us Gd and expenditure £lOl Is Id. The reports were adopted.
