"THE TURK IN TRIPOLI."

LECTURE BY Dlt KARL ICUMM. Dr Karl Ivumm addressed, a crowded •meeting in His Majesty's Theatre yesterday afternoon on '' The Turk in Tripoli." Bishop Julius occupied, the chaif. Dv Ivumm prefaced his remarks with a brief history of the rise and progress of Mohammedanism, showing how it eventually made its entry into Africa. It behoved the various Christian Churches to put aside all their differences and to unite in one solid band for Christ. Since his arrival in the colonies he had received offers of practical assistance from all the Australian States, and from Dunedin, while even Christchurch was beginning to take an interest in the great work. He hoped that all New Zealand would cooperate with him in saving the negro States, the latest colonies of the British-, from the destruction, the moral degradation, and the stagnation that would inevitably follow the advent of the Moslem doctrine:
