In consequence of an epidemic in Cornwall and Devon of poliomyelitis, or infantile spinal paralysis, it has been, declared a notifiable disease. A DESPERATE GANG. A Berlin message says that a band of men barricaded themselves in a house at Lodz and kept tho police at bay for two hours. About 2000 shots were exchanged, and several police and a passer-by were wounded. CHOLERA IN INDIA. The men of the Royal Scots Regiment at Allahabad are free from cholera, only one case having been reported since they left tho Benares cantonments. FIGHT STOPPED. The chief constable at Birmingham has served the pugilists Moran and Driscoll with writs, to prevent the feather-weight boxing championship being held there in December. A WEDDING. Miss Ruby Seddon, daughter of tho late Hon R. J. Seddon, was married !n tho Marylebono Church to Staff-Sur-geon Woods. Many New Zealanders were present at the ceremony.
