EARLY COLONISTS' ASSOCIATION.

PROPOSED FETE. The committee of the Early Colonists' Association met yesterday afternoon, Mr J. 0. Adams presiding. Mr Adams explained that the meeting, was called to consider the question of holding a fete in the Domain Gardons on Annniversary Day, for the purpose of forming thb nucleus of a fund to build an addition to the Museum in. which conld he housed the prints, writings and ether records gathered by the Association. He explained that ho had interviewed the chairman of the Domain Beard, with whom he had discussed tentatively the pros and cons, find Mr Beswick bad said that the fete would be in furtherance of the Board's policy of popularising the Gardens. Mr M. M.osley moved that a fete should be held. The motion was seconded l>y Mr J. E. March. The meeting discussed the motion at some length, and it was suggested that the time was too short to organise a fete. Mr March said that if a meeting of all interested was called enough enthusiasm could be worked up. The Friendly which had offered to help, with othorn, could form committees. Mr Adams said thai as there would be a gathering of old colonists on Anniversary Da 3', it would bo advisable to approach them on the question ax to whether a fete should be held. Alter that plenty of time would be availabla to form a committtee and work up a fete. An amendment that Mr R. C. Bishop should be asked to allow representatives of the Association to interview the colonists at the gathering at his house on December 16, was carried, and the chairman anu Mr Mosley were appointed to wait on Mr Bishop and report.
