Tho Hon J. E. Jenkinson, M.L.C., and Mrs Jenkinson arrived from Wellington this morning. Mr T. Parata, M7P., and Mr J. A. Hanan, M.P., arrived from Wellington by the ferry steamer this morning. ' Tho Rov Father P. J. C'ooney, of St Joseph's Catholic 1 Church. Lyttelton, returned from a visit to the Continent this morning. Messrs C. S. Harper, W. Pryor, J. D. Ritchie, J. G. Strauehan and J. Roberts arrived from Wellington by the Maori this morning. Captain and Mrs Onslow. Messrs J. 0. Jameson, H. Dampier-Crossley, L. R. Macfarlano and R. Dalziel arrived from Sydney this morning. Mr and Mrs W. Stead, Mr and Mrs T. B. Bealo, Mr and Mrs J. S. Duthie, Dr Hammersley and the Revs J. Chisholm and J. Dickson arrived from the north by the Maori this morning. Mr W. Woodbury, of tho Little River Railway Department, who has been transferred to Christchurch, was entertained by his friends at a smoke conceit in the Town Hall. Little River, on Saturday evening. Mr W. Aiken was in the chair and presented Mr Woodbury with a handsome travelling rug. A pleasing musical programme was gone through. Yesterday afternoon the local staff if the New Zealand Insurance Company met to say good-bye to Mr R.. J. A. Johnston, who haß been promoted to a position in tho company's Adelaide branch. The manager, Mr A. L. Parsons, on behalf of tho staff, presented Mr Johnston with a travelling case and a set of razors. Several members of the staff spoke eulogistically of the departing member's service whilo in Christchurch, and of the esteem in j. which thoy had held him. Mr Johnston ! left for Adelaide to-day.
