BOXING.
" CYCLONE" THOMPSON FOR AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received November 1, 9.15 a.m.) VANCOUVER October 31. "Cyclone" Johnny Thompson has left Vancouver for Australia, where he will compote in six contests under the management of Mr H. D. M'lntosli. (Thompson, Paplco and Oabby were in Australia under Mr M'lntosh's management last year. Clabby is again in Sydney, having arrived on Saturday last in company with Tommy Bums.) THE BURNS-LESTER CASE. SYDNEY, November 1. The case in which Tommy Burns claimed half of Lester's boxing profits was dismissed with costs on the application of Burns's counsel. (After the Lang-Lester contest at the Sydney Stadium on September 9 last Tommy Burns's representative applied for an injunction restraining the promoter from paying out to Lester his share of the receipts. The reason for this was that Burns alleged that an agreement had been made between Lester and himself in 1910 to the effect that, in return for Burns's' services, Lester should, for a period of ten years, pay to Burns a half share of all moneys and wages received by him for boxing matches and theatrical engagements, after payment of certain expenses, and that all money so receivable by Lester in Australia should be £>aid to Burns's representative, Mr W. F. Corbett, and distributed by him in the manner stated. As Bums had notified his intention to visit Australia in October the case was adjourned till then. Burns passed through Auckland on October 24, and evidently no time was lost by him on reaching Sydney to effect a settlement.) INTERPROVINCIAL CONTESTS. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, November 1.
