His [Excellency the Governor opened the proceedings, and said that lie was in the fullest sympathy with the work of the Agricultural Societies. It was an impartial medium, and could acquire a prompt response from the Government. His Excellency concluded with a warm tribute to the work of the Agricultural Societies in New Zealand, and to the reception accorded him in different parts of tlio country. " Nothing," lie said, " has made me feel more as if T were at Home among mv old friends than those occasions when I have been surrounded by a large group of the kindly, genial, welcoming farmers in New Zealand."
