JOSEPH ISRAELS, ARTTST. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph— Copyright. (Received August 14, 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 13. The death is announced at the Hague of Joseph Israels, artist.
Joseph Israels was horn at Groon January 27, 1824. He studied at Amsterdam and Paris under the best masters of the day, and was the recipient of very hjgh honours. Ho held the Leopold Order and the trench Legion of Honour, and' the Grand Prix at the Paris Exhibition in TBS9. Among his works, which were very many, were Old and "Worn-Out, Q \lent Conversation, The Frugal Meal, Past Mother's Grave, Domestic Sorrow*, The Eve of the .Separation, From Darkto Vtrlit. Pinonke. The Poor of the Village, The Shoemaker, A Cottage Madonna, The Tranquil House, Tho Sh in wrecked,' The of the Orphans' Home at Katwvk, Tho True Support. The Mother, Tlie Children of the Sea, Mind<"ng the Flock, liie Little Sick Nurse, Tho Sower.
