THE BOUNDARIES REVIEWED A BRIEF SURVEY. [FaOM Ori\ COKHKSI'ONDKXT.I WELLINGTON, August 14. ChristcHurch North is unaltered.

Christchurch East is extended southwards past Ferry Road, taking in parts of Mr Laurensou's and Mr Russell's The boundary is very tortuous, the line taken being from Colombo Street via Salisbury Street, eastward to the River Avon, by Fitzgerald Avenue, Lower High Street, Wilson's Road, Charles Street, Grafton Street, hack to Lower High Street, Ensor's Road, railway line to Wilson's Road; thsncs to Langdown Street, thence to Colombo Street via Rogers, Huxley, Croydxi. Southampton, Montroso and Huxley Streets. Christchurch South takes in a small portion of Spreydon. The actual boundaries are Colombo Street on the east, from. Christ-church North boundary to the River Heathcote, thence along' tho river to Barrington Read, thence to Conway Street and Lyttelton Street thence west by Lyttelton and Hcllewell Sheets to Lincoln Road, thence to Moorhouse Avenue and by the western extension of the Avenue to the Wesb Beit, thence back to the Christchurch North boundary.

Avon loses Marshland, but gets a small portion bounded by River Road and the Avenue, previously in Christchurch East.

Riccnrlon considerably strengthens All \Vitty s position. The revision gives hi in Papanui and Harewood Road and extends tho district right up to Sheffield, taking in Darfield en route. The electorate loses Halswell and Spreydon, which go to Ellesmere. The alteration of the Ivaiapoi boundary is expected to make Mr Buddo's seat more secure than ever. It will gain the Styx and Marshland ridings of the Waimairi County, and also "a portion of Oxford, taken from Riccarton and Hurunui.

Ellesmere takes in the greater part of Spi e\ don and Halswell, a fact which may strengthen tho Government candidate s chance. It loses the northern portion of the Peninsula, Lyttelton being extended to include Mount Herbert County, Port Levy, Okain's Bay and Le Bon's Bav.

Selwyn loses Darfield, which goes to Riccarton, and also loses the Cass railway workers, about 500 in number, who go to Hurunui; but it gains fresh country right down to Hinds and Rangitata, with a good district south-west of Mayfield. Ashburton extends as far south as Temuka, which, however, remains in Geraldine. _ Timaru loses Kerrytown, and gains little except a strip three miles sooth of Arowhenua River. Hurunui is the same to the north, but on the south takes in part of old Selnj-n, including PJount Torlesse and Lake Lyndon. It also takes in Broken River and the Cass workers.
