THE PELOTAS.
NAUTICAL INQUIRY'S FINDING. . [Per Prkss Association - .] WANGANUI, July 4. The finding of the nautical inquiry into the stranding of the barquentine Pelotas at the mouth of the Wangauui River, on Juno 12, was delivered this morning. The Court lound that the accident was .due to an unexpected fresh in the river,, of which 110 warning had been sent to the pilot, and to insufficient power, under these circumstances, of the lighter which was towing the Pelotas. 'The certificates of all the officers were returned. No order as to costs were made, and no blame was attached to the pilot or to the Harbour Board ; but it was recommended that in future advice regarding floods up the river should be sent to the pilot.
