Mr E. J Davis (Sydney) arrived in town to-day. Messrs T. J. Robertson, H. E. Hyde and F. 0. Hyde arrived from Wellington by the Mararoa this; morning. Messrs C. A. Orbell, D. C. Turnbull and C. Cotterill arrived from Wellington by th© ferry steamer this morning. Miss Nelson, sister in charge of the children's ward of one of the Liverpool hospitals, has been appointed matron of the Karitane Home, Dunedin. Mr R. G. Robinson, superintendent nurseryman of the State Fore ".try Department- for the South Island, arrived in Christchurch to-day after a visit to Hanmer. We re)>orts that the plantations at Hanmer are progressing very satisfactorily.
