An English syndicate has acquired the Sydney Harbour Colliery, which has been idle for several years, and operations will be resumed on a large scale immediately. THE DIPHTHERIA EPIDEMIC. There is no abatement in the diphtheria outbreak, and the Board of Health is unable to account for the virulence of it, which is unprecedented. VICTORIA'S GRAIN AREA. MELBOURNE, August 3. The area under grain in Victoria is 2,345,000 acres, an increase of 248,000 acres over last year.
