THE RELIEF FUNDS.
LONDON, January 1. King Edward has sent 51 X) guineas "to the Lord Mayor's fund. The Prince of Wales and Queen Alexq ,ndra have sent 250 guineas each. Hhe English fund amounts to £10,000. The Italian Parliament will shortly be convoked to vo^e extraordinary taxation for the next five yea rs, increase the railway rates and exempt the afflicted districts frdm taxation. . Drinking water has becoime contaminated in many places. /
