ROUGHS CAUSING ALAR3I. ROME, January 1. A few dozen survivors fought, with knives in the ruins of the CustomHouse at Messina. Several throats were cut for a few haudfuls of beans. The extraordinary boldness .and effrontery of the lowest roughs causes alarm at Messina. There is &, terrible lack of food and supplies of medical necessaries and wood for building shelters. The docks, and harbour workt3 at Messina have sunk to the level -otr the sea. The effects of the seismic fl/ave were felt from Termini to, Syracuse.
