The oldest member of the ranks of the old heroes, now spending the eventide of Jite at the Veterans' Home, Daniel Theobald, eighty-seven years of ago, died to-day. A native of Suffolk, at the age- of ten years he joined the 7.oth Regiment, and was at Peshawar when the 51st Sepoys mutinied, and the 70th Regiment, snot them down. The 70ch eventually came to Auckland, and Theobald wa« with-it at the attack on tho pa at Waitara, in Taranaki. He had the Indian Mutiny medal, having scon active service at Cawnpore, Ferazopore and Peshawar, the Imperial longeorvicc medal, the New Zealand medal, and the good conduct medal, A military funefal will be held to-morrow. | — =
