OBITUARY.

! « j MRS W. P. MORTON. ! Mrs W. F. Morton died at the residence of her daughter (Mrs Tripe) at Picton at an early hour on Saturday morning. The deceased lady was of a kindly disposition, ever ready to assist in any I good work. Mr and Mrs Morton left i England for New Zealand in the ship I Mystery, arriving at Lyttelton in 1859. Mr Morton was the first schoolmaster at Heathcote, and he and Mrs Morton resided in Canterbury for many years. Mr Morton died in 1879. Mrs Morton went to Picton on a holiday visit about seven weeks ago, and, although her death 'was sud*den, it was not unexpected, as she had reached the advanced age of seventy-five year?.
