A RAILWAY ACCIDENT. [From Ocn, Correspondent.] ASHBURTON, . August 3. The first express for the south to-day ran into a hawker's ran. -with two horses attached, on a crossing near the Dunsandel railway station. It appeal's that the horses bolted, and got out of control of the driver about 200 yds from the crossing on the approach of the train. The horses just cleared the line when the engine struck tho body of the van, smashing it into matchAvood and liberating the horses, which escaped unhurt. The driver, who was thrown clear of the line, was conveyed to the hotel. He complained of injuries to his back, and medical aid was sent for. The wreckage was carried for fully 150 yds. The name of the driver of the van is Hollanworth. But for the presence of mind of the driver of the engine, who promptly applied the brakes, the man and the horses would probably have been killed. East Gore, while shooting yesterday lent his gun to a companion, who returned it loaded withont informing M'Millan. M'Millan rested the muzzle on the toe of his boot and accidentally pulled the trigger, injuring his toes so badly as to necessitate two being amputated.
