* CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Thursday, Jrxm 4. Drunkexxess. — Two first offenders for drunkenness were each fined 5s and costs, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. — Alexa?ider Corry, a statutory second offender, for drunkenness, was fined 10s and costs, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Putting Down Obscene Language. — John Green, who was also convicted and discharged for drunkenness, was sentenced to twenty-one days' imprisonment with hard labour for having used obscene language in a public place. Remajtoed.— James Walsh denied having stolen two rolls of linoleum, valued at £1, the property of some person or persons unknown. On the application of the police, he was remanded till Saturday to allow inquiries to be made regarding the ownership of the rolls. Bail was allowed, the accused "in £25 and one surety of £25. Judgment by DEFATTTiT. — Judgment by default was given for the plaintiff with costs in the case of J. Lamb and Son (Mr PTopkins) v. Charles Murphy, claim £4 los. No Ordek. — The Magistrate declined to make an order in the judgment summons case Julia Wolfe v. Joseph Bedford for £3 0s Bd. Wages Claim. — Tn A. J. Lamb v. Lamb and Todd (Mr Hall), a claim for£B 3s 7d, balance of wages due, judgment was given for the plaintiff for the full amount with costs, but execution was suspended for four weeks.
