AN INCREASE REJECTED. United Press Association— By Electrio Telegraph — Copyright. NEW YORK, April 16. The* American House of Representatives, by 190 votes to 79, rejected an amendment in the Naval Appropriation Bill, providing for the construction of four battleships instead of two. Mr Towney, chairman of the Naval Committee, declared that the United States were spending in preparation for possible wax more than any other nation in the world.
