CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.

AUTUMN MEETING. The autumn meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club wiL be commenced at Riccarton on Monday. In some respects the prospects are not so bright as could be wished, the principal cause for disappointment being in. connection with the ohief events on the programme. The Champagne Stakes will be reduced to : a duel between the representatives of the two leading local stables— Chokebore and Ya-ldhuist— and with the crack filly, Flestfoot, on the unsound list, interest in the '■ raco will be still further curtailed. With re- ! gard to the Challenge Stakes, on the second day, -the outlook is also poor, as, in addition to Fleetfoot, there is a doubt regarding the unbeaten three-year-old, Boniform. Theprincipal handicap events, the Great Easter and Great Autumn Handicaps, have not attracted large fields, but the issue in each instance is regarded as very open. The minor races have drawn fair acceptances, and they look like providing good contests. The first race on each day is timed to start at noon. The following is the programme for the first day: — KILDARE HURDLE HANDICAP, ot 150 bovb; second horse 20 soys and third horss 10 soya from the stake. Two mile 3. st- lb- st. lb.
