POLITICAL LABOUR LEAGUE.
A meeting of the Political Labour League was held on Wednesday. Mr Sullivan presided over a special meeting, called for the purpose of nominating candidates for the forthcoming election. A large number of members were present. Correspondence was < received from the Trades Hail Building Committee and the Blackball Miners' Union. Some discussion ensued relative to a requisition being presented to Councillor Cooper, asking him to stand for the Mayoralty, provided he would support the* League's municipal marketscheme. It was decided to invite the League's members to sign the necessary requisition. Messrs Myers, Sullivan, Thorn' and Howard were elected as a deputation to wait upon the City Council at its next meeting and present the munioipal market petition. Great interest was taken in the nomination of candidates for the next election. Mr Thorn was nominated for Christchurch South, Mr Howard for Avon, and a deputation, consisting of Messrs Sullivan, Powell, Howard and, PaterBon, was appointed to wait upon a probable candidate to give his consent to be nominated for Ricoarton.^ In toference to the Kaiapoi seat, it was determined to ask the Kaiapoi and Belfast branches to nominate a candidate or support the candidature of Mr D. Sullivan. Further nominations were held over till a future meeting. A motion congratulating Miss Powell, the League's organiser, on the success of her mission in Otago was carried unanimously.
