MODERN MATRIMONY.
TO THE EDITOR.
Si r> Of late years it has become a practice to publish a description of the many presents given to the happy couples who are about to enter into tho holy bonds of matrimony. Thiß has led to a very common and pernicious babit for all and sundry to think of near and distant friends to whdm they might issue invitations. The object they have in view is so apparent, that even the shallowest mind can detect the little game. It is generally understood that the etiquette to bo complied with, means a present of some kind, whether tlho invitation be accepted or not. To my way of thinking, it would bo more honourable and straightforward for the contracting parties and their relations to send out a subscription list, asking for donations to enable them to acquire a furnished home on tho never. Trusting this will have th© desired effect. — I am, etc., " BRUTUM FULMEN " FROM CURLY DITFORD.
