AUCKLAND, April 16. Owing to a dense fag at Ellerslie this morning, very littla work could ba seen. All ■work was don© outside the course proper. Bang 1 Billy -was 'better than Arclight at the end of a mile, covering the distance in lmiru 52 2-ssec. Gold Crest and Marguerite, together, finished three lengths in front of Dawn End on a similar journey, in lmin 50 4-ssec, Mahuia going easier. ' lUiaparaha finished seven furlongs in lmin 35 1-osoc. Master Delaval heat TJhlando over a mile course in lmin 49 4-ssec> and Woodky beat First Gun for the same distance in lmin 63seo. Aborigine, alone, covered six furlongs in tLmini 22seo. Diamond Star was three lengths in front of Cbanteuse in a five-furlong g-allop, covering the distance in lmin 7 2-ssec. The, fog . ol&ared after breakfast. The stylish Kirsty spurted four furlongs in 52 3-ssec, and Veronica and Delegate seven furlongs in lmin 35 1-osec.' The last-named two had the advantage of T&mainupo for four furlongs. Santa Rosa and Waimangu covered the Eiame distance in fhe same time. Pierre, Irish and Moeraki jumped the big fences, the last-named falling: at the double, afterwards getting over safely.
