Mr J. E. Hewings was . a passenger for Timaru by the second express today.' Mr J. E. Green and tlie Canterbury members of the New Zealand amateur athletic team arrived in Christchurch this morning. Mr T. H. Davey, M.P., returned this morning after a five weeks' visit to the North Island. Mr L. P. Bullen, of the Dunedin staff of tlie Labour Department, has been, transferred to the Christchurch office; and Mr G. Jackson, cadet, has been transferred from Christchurch to Wellington. Mr J. Bastin, who _a 6 been usher at the Supremo Court, Christchurch, for over twenty years, has been compelled by ill-health to retire at the end of the present month. Bishop Julius returned from Wellington to-day. l f Dr Williams, Dr Irving aad Dr Jeffreys arrived from the north by the Maori this morning.
