LYTTELTON DISTRICT.

The annual meeting of the Lyttelton District Lodge of Oddfellows, Manchester Unity, .took place on Thursday, March 12, at Akaroa; present — Prov. G.M. Brother John Pettigrew, D. Prov. G.M. 0. W. Leete, Prov. CS. John L. Carroll and the following representatives of lodges: — Lily of Norwich — P.G.s Brothers Brice, Carson, Taylor and J. Veale; Good Intent — Brother D. A. Fyfe; Hand of Friendship— P.S. Brother Moore and P.G. Brother E. W. Harris; Hand and Heart — P.G. Brother Kelly and G.M. Brother Knudson ; Perseverance, P.G.s Brothers Chatfield and Thomas Le Comte; Wairewa — P.G.s Brothers G. Columbus and V. Kissell; warden, P.G. Brother John Staples. j Prov. G.M. Brother Pettigrew laid ' before the meeting a resume of business done during the past twelve months, stating that the district officers during their visits had found lodges in good working order. The sick and funeral funds stood at £14,699 and sick pay for the twelve months had been £921. In- | terest earned had been £759, and there ' was need for lodges to invest their funds better, there being £1080 lying in the Post Office Savings Bank and at fixed deposit. The Prov. Grand Master received a' hearty vote of thanks for his address, and it was resolved to have it printed in the official record of the meeting. I Deputy Prov. G.M. Leete was unanimously elected Prov G.M., P.G. W. C. G. Taylor Deputy Prov. G.M. and P.G. John Veate junior auditor. A report was received from P.P. G.M. Griffiths, the delegate to the Wellington conference of ,B.M. Association. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and was granted a fee of £2 2s for his services. Notices of motion from the Hand and Heart Lodge were considered. A motion that the district officers should take steps to affiiliate with the New Zealand branch was lost, and a motion that the district officers should collect information regarding the proposal to increase by levy the funeral benefits to £130 and £100 w&s carried. It was resolved that the deputies should bring before the lodges -he necessity of affording to the registrar all information required for the admission of members to hospitals; that the next meeting -of the District Lodge should be held at Lyttelton in March, 1909; that the management levy should be 2s 6d Ser member, and that the Prov. G.M. rother Pettigrew should receive the P.P.G.M.'s jewel and pass-word, and that his name should be placed on the j merit board. j P.P.G.M. Brice installed the officers elected, and Prov. G.M. Brother Leete then presented to the retiring P.G.M., Brother Pettigrew the Grand Master's jewel. At the conclusion of the proceedings ! a Past Grand Lodge was held, and the ! purple degree was conferred upon P.G. . George Le Comte.
