AUCKLAND, December 23. Rain fell throughout training operations this morning, but the tracks were in good order. Artillerie covered six furlongs on the grass in Infra 23 4-sseo, Pownfall ran a round on the grass in good style in 3min. 2seo. Bobrikoff ran four furlongs on the grass in 53 l-sse<j. Dawn ran four furlongs on the same track in oSsec. Muskerry beat King Billy over five furlongs on the grass in lmin 5 1-osoo. Aborigine beat Separator over four furlongs on the grass in 51 3-ssec. Zimmerman, Master Delaval sw*d First Gun finished in that order over the samo distance in SOoec. Moriarty took 50 4-ssec, and Wharekura 53 2-ssec to gallop fomr furlongs. Apa covered a couple of rounds on the grass, the last in 2min 5 2-ssec.
At » meeting' of the committee , of the South Canterbury Jockey Club, held on Friday, the chairman (Mt E. R, Guinness) reported Jliat he would have to attend th& Raoing Conference in Wellington on January 23, the business being alterations in rules, etc., necessitated by the new Gaming Act, It was stated that in all probability a meeting of members of country clubs would shortly be held in Christchurch to discuss the position, and it was decided ih«,t the president, vice-president and Mr E. H. Eeid should be requested to attend this meeting, the new Act and its effects to be talked over with them at a meeting of the committee to ba called by the president whenever ho was advised of the contemplated Christchurch meeting.
