TRADE UNIONISM.
[Pkb Press Association.] "WELLINGTON, December 23. The Wellington Furniture Trades Union has seceded from the Trades and Labour Council because of the attitude of the latter body in connection with the election of a deputy-representative of the workers on the Arbitration. Court. A letter was sent by the Council expressing regret that some of the unions had been disloyal to the recommendations of the annual conference. The Union decided to secede, and f massed a resolution to the effect that he Trades and Labour Council is not a bona fide labour body, inasmuch as it is controlled by others than practical trades unionists, who insist on being recognised as the mouthpiece of trades unionism and labour generally, and use coercive means to silence the opposition. This means a perpetual state of strife detrimental to the. best interests of labour. ■_
