At the auction sale of fruit aiid vegetables the following prices were realised : — Apples 16s to 20s per case, plums 10s to 13s. oranges (San Francisco) 30e, Sydney 14s to 18s, bananas 16s, Mandarins 20s, pines 20s per case, grapes. 2s 5d per lb, tomatoes local hothouse Is to Is 2d per lb, cucumbers hothouse 7d per lb, strawberries, local 6d to Is, Waimate 6d to lOd, cherries 8d to Is, rod currants 4d. gooseberries 3d per lb, lemons, Italian 13s per halfcase, potatoes, white 2d to 3d, red 2d, Auckland 2d, Sydney l^d per lb. old 5s to 6s per sack, asparagus 3s to 4s per dozen, green peas 6d to 9d per peck, rhubarb 2s 3d to 3s, cauliflower Is 6d to 3s, lettuce 8d to Is 6d, oabbage, leeks, spinach, carrots 6d to lOd per dozen.
