* News has be&n received in Wellington of the death in England of Mrs Edward Lauxi (Mies Ciesie Neil), wife of the well-known comedian of that name. Mrs Lauri visited the colonies some years ago with Mr Musgrove's " Thirty Thieves " Compaiiy. Mr T. Y. Seddon, M.P., intends to leave Wellington for Christohurch tonight to be present on Sunday at the dedication of the memorial cloime of bells at St Mary's, Addinetoii, where his brother-in-law, the Rev W. S. Bean, is vicar. On Tuesday uecst he will proceed overland to the West Coast for the purpose of spending Christmas Mr A. H. Turnbull has co-nsented to be nominated for the vacancy on the Lyttelton Harbour Board caused by the departure of the Hon G. J. Smith for London. The Rev W. A. Sinclair, who has. been spending some months on Stewart Island recruiting his health, writes that he is now fully recovered, and that he will resume his duties at the St Albans Methodist Church on December 29. A certificate of merit has been awarded Mr R. Darrock, chief officer of the Wimmera, by the New South Wales Royal Shipwreck Relief and Humane Society, for swimming to the assistance of a sailor who fell overboard from a vessel in Darling Harbour on October V&.
